Colleyville Sedation Dentistry: Sleep Through Your Dental Visit

It’s normal to feel anxious about seeing the dentist, especially when there’s a longer procedure that you need to have completed.

Dental anxiety is nothing to laugh at.  A bad experience from your childhood, or any point in your life, can make you fear having any type of dental work performed, whether it’s just a cleaning or having a tooth removed. Being able to address that anxiety is the first step to giving yourself the smile that you deserve.

At Signature Dental Arts, Dr. Hyung S. Kim wants to help you make your experience with us a positive one.  That’s why we offer three levels of sedation for you to choose from.

  • Nitrous Oxide: Nitrous gas is mixed with oxygen, and breathed in through a soft mask worn over your nose. This safe, effective sedative will relax you within a matter of minutes. You will still be awake and aware, but you just won’t care as much about what is happening.

  • Oral Conscious Sedation: Oral conscious sedation uses a low dose of a sedative like Diazepam or Lorazepam, among others, to put you into a state of light consciousness. You’ll take the pill about 20 minutes before your treatment. Although you will be able to respond to the periodontist, you probably won’t remember the appointment afterward!

You don’t have to be sedated for your dental appointment. But if you have any type of fear or anxiety related to seeing a dentist, we highly recommend sedation as part of your treatment. Not only will it make the experience better for you, but it helps Dr. Kim and Associates work more efficiently.
